Tomorrow I’m going to be in the Naperville Sun regarding my apparent revolutionary method of drawing attention to an issue in downtown Naperville. I won’t comment on this too much just yet. (Mostly because I’m beyond exhausted of re-telling the story to every single person I have ever known.) Insert fifty cents in to the nearest Sun paper machine tomorrow morning and don’t be one of those jerks who pays for one paper then takes five like I saw this morning.
The Moser Tower and Millennium Carillon officially opens on Sunday. I did a lot of internet leg-work back in the dark ages of the carillon before the city decided to give the remaining funding. I wrote this page up and spread it around to pretty much every online community that could possibly be interested in seeing something as amazing as the Naperville carillon being completed. I can’t find the newspaper articles online anymore, but apparently city council’s email box was literally flooded with people all over the world supporting the funding of the carillon. It felt really awesome to have started a world-wide movement like that, and seeing the tower completed along with finally visiting the observation deck will bring the whole experience full circle.
Something I wasn’t aware of is the sheer scale of Moser Tower compared to other landmarks. The image to the right displaying the Moser Tower and the Statue of Liberty blew my mind. (Source: naperville-carillon.org)
I’ve been deeply in love with my iPhone since I picked mine up from the Apple Store. I would always end up leaving my iPod in my bag or in my car, since I only have so much pocket real estate and I’ve absolutely refused to wear any kind of cellular belt clip. Now, having my tunes with me at all times I’ve come to realize exactly how dated my music collection is. It seems like since I graduated high school and became a productive member of society, I’ve used my music mainly for background noise while I program or spend time at the gym. I couldn’t even tell you when the last time I went out and picked up a new CD and listened to the whole thing. The iTunes Music Store has allowed me to just pick and choose tracks I randomly hear on the radio and in movies that I like. While it’s cool to have that flexibility, and I admit it’s pretty nice to just throw out $0.99 and get the single of a one hit wonder band- but I don’t really think how that is how said bands intended you to listen to their music.
Either way, I’ve picked up the following CD’s:
- Bright Eyes - Cassadaga
- Katie Melua - Piece By Piece
- Paul McCartney - Memory Almost Full
- Plain White T’s - All That We Needed (Believe it or not I actually remember listening to their first CD in high school when they were some new local pop-punk band from the O’Hare area.)
…And if this were Ebay, I’d have to rate them all “A++++++++++++++++++++ WOULD LISTEN AGAIN FAST SHIPPING GOOD SELLER”
I was rummaging through files on my computer today looking for a PDF detailing some specifics for this goofy asterisk delimited standardized file format that electronic insurance claims must be sent in for a project I’m working on when I found this photo:

The POWER GLOVE. Words cannot even describe how much I absolutely could not live without one of these in the months previous to whatever Christmas or birthday I got this on. It was too big for my hand, the games for it for terrible, and every time you turned on the NES you had to look through the Power Glove manual to locate the code for the game you wanted to play to program the Power Glove to work. I’m pretty sure I had more fun running around wearing the Power Glove with the NES Zapper stuck in my belt than actually playing any Power Glove games.
I can’t wait until I have kids and can spend silly amounts of money on worthless junk they’ll use for ten minutes.
The quote from The Wizard, “I love the Power Glove. It’s so bad.” is actually extremely accurate in a very literal sense.
The Simpsons movie is coming out tomorrow, and if I didn’t have so much still to do tonight I’d try to squeeze my way in to a midnight showing. I’ll probably go see it Saturday morning. Very few people know that if you go to the AMC 30 before Noon on Fridays and Saturdays a ticket is only $5. And no one is ever there.
And finally, you must watch this video. (Fair warning, it is set to rap music and as such has some swearing, but nothing too terrible.)

If you’d asked me, I would have told you not to buy the Macca record.
Believe me, I’ve listened to/heard it just a few times.
