My favorite part of the paper always has been and probably always will be the police blotter. Here is what you missed this month by not reading the best page of the paper:
7/6/07 - Retail Theft: About 8:30 p.m., a man pumped 3.13 gallons of gasoline, valued at $10, into a tank of a tan-colored car at Gas City, 3004 Reflection Drive, and drove away from the station without paying for it.
7/6/07 - Defacement: Before 9:44 a.m., silver-colored marking pen and orange spray paint used to make graffiti on west side railing and west side of Main Street Bridge over DuPage River; total damage estimated at $10.
7/7/07 - Damage to Property: Between 10:30 p.m. July 6 and 5:45 a.m., red spray paint was used to deface a green plastic lawn ornament outside a home at 815 S. Loomis St.; damage estimated at $40; on previous night, peach-colored Garden Gazing Ball ornament, valued at $40, stolen from the front patio of the same home.

7/7/07 - Theft: About 9:30 p.m., Honest Pleasure Drive street sign valued at $50 stolen from street’s intersection with Cavalcade Circle; group of 10 youths seen in area a short time earlier.

7/13/07 - Retail theft: Michael G. Crosby, 38, Westmont; 2:45 p.m. at Jewel-Osco, 127 E. Ogden Ave.; charged with retail theft for sliding bottle of Smirnoff vodka valued at $13.79 down front of pants and then leaving store without paying for it.
7/17/07 - Burglary to Vehicle: Between midnight and 9:30 a.m., three unlocked vehicles entered while parked outside home at 4807 Clearwater Lane; bottle of Rimmy Martin cognac, valued at $18, stolen from one vehicle.
7/19/07 - Theft: Between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., two wooden sawhorses, 3-foot-by-2-foot “No Trespassing” sign and spool of yellow plastic warning tape with a combined estimated value of $20 stolen from rear yard of home at 725 N. Brainard St.
7/21/07 - Burglary: Between 9 p.m. July 20 and 7:30 a.m. today, 30-can case of Miller High Life beer valued at $15 stolen from open garage of home at 4804 Chokeberry Drive.
7/21/07 - Theft: Between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., electronic security device, valued at $10, stolen from fob on key chain when car was left at Monarch Landing, 2255 Erickson Drive.
I think my favorite crime is the stolen bottle of $18 cognac. First of all, who buys $18 cognac. Secondly, who leaves alcohol in their car. Last, but certainly not least, who reports a missing bottle of $18 cognac to the police? Hopefully the Naperville Police Department has detectives working in shifts to recover the stolen cognac, case of Miller and the game of Risk.
Also, flower stomper, if you’re out there… You’re a monster.
Update: Oh my, they truly saved the best for last this month-

The MGD Bandits strike again, they might even be responsible for the change robbery! Nothing goes better with pilfered beer than a couple of stolen games of Golden Tee.
